Inside each one of us is a story waiting to be told. We have lived lives full of love, hope, survival, wisdom ,pain, dreams ,friendship ,music ,pets and family There have been moments and impressions which are etched upon our hearts forever .
This is a time to reflect; a time to collect your memories and represent them on a FOREVER stamp. Your stamps will be created on a large format and framed with a mat ready for display .
The story is not in the plot but in the telling. We will explore ways of telling our story in words and pictures. Our creations will be printed on a stamp and framed for display.
Storytelling is our gift to the next generation. What is your story?
There will be fifteen 2 hour sessions and a culminating show.
The following subjects will be covered:
1. Coming to my story. Deciding what I want to say and which elements will be included.
2. History of stamps in America (every subject should be taught within the context of its history)
3. Photography- Translating photos into graphic elements for stamp design.
4. Composition- How to combine words and images within the given space.
5. Type- How different type styles affect the intended message.
6. Color-How color affects meaning.
7. Software tools for editing-Free and Paid
8. Mediums-Brush tip pens, acrylic paint, watercolor, colored pencils, markers.
9. Framing and matting
